Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Stepin platform, including the website www.stepin.live, mobile applications, and related services ("Platform").

By accessing or using Stepin, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. NATURE OF PLATFORM

Stepin is a technology platform that facilitates:

• Property listing and management
• Tenant onboarding and offboarding
• Digital occupancy management
• Issue tracking
• Communication between users

Stepin does not own, lease, manage, or control any property listed on the Platform unless explicitly stated. Stepin operates as an Intermediary under the Information Technology Act, 2000.

2. ELIGIBILITY

You must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be legally capable of entering into contracts under applicable law in India

This Platform is intended strictly for users operating within India.

3. USER ROLES

a) Owner / Property Manager
A user who lists or manages a rental property. They warrant: Lawful authority to list the property, and Compliance with applicable housing and rental laws.

b) Tenant / Occupant
A user who joins or resides in a listed property. Digital occupancy records do not constitute legal tenancy rights.

c) Guest User
A Guest User is any user who accesses the Platform, views listings, or initiates communication, but does not own or manage property and is not currently residing in a listed property. Guest Users shall not misrepresent identity or upload misleading information.

4. USER DATA & CONSENT

All users consent to collection and processing of:

• Identity details (if provided)
• Contact details
• Platform activity
• Uploaded documents

5. DOCUMENT STORAGE

Users may upload agreements and address proof. By uploading, you provide explicit storage consent and confirm lawful ownership. Stepin does not independently authenticate documents unless stated.

6. INTERMEDIARY SAFE HARBOUR

Under Section 79 of the IT Act, Stepin is not liable for:

• User misrepresentation
• Property disputes
• Agreements made between users

7. USER OBLIGATIONS

Users shall not:

• Upload false information
• Engage in unlawful housing activity
• Violate applicable local laws

8. COMMUNICATION

Stepin enables user-to-user interaction. Stepin is not responsible for agreements made through communication or off-platform arrangements.

9. FUTURE RENTAL PAYMENTS

Payment services may be introduced later. Stepin shall act only as facilitator unless stated. Separate payment terms will apply.

10. DATA SECURITY

Stepin follows reasonable security practices under IT Rules 2011 and DPDP Act 2023.

11. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

Stepin is not liable for:

• Property condition
• Rental disputes
• User actions

12. GOVERNING LAW

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

13. JURISDICTION & DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Subject to arbitration below, courts in Bengaluru, Chennai, or Hyderabad shall have jurisdiction depending on the property location or primary business interaction.

The parties agree to resolve disputes through binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. Arbitration shall be conducted in India, in English, and handled by a sole arbitrator. Seat of arbitration shall be Hyderabad, Bengaluru, or Chennai (as determined by Stepin). Courts shall have jurisdiction only for enforcement of arbitral awards and interim relief.

Users waive rights to class action suits and multi-party litigation.

By using Stepin, you agree to these Terms.
